パウのWhat’s KABUKI?!
HI! I'm paula!
I'm from Brazil but alive in the Japan almost 13 years,
in a town called Matsumoto.
In my town Matsumoto will have a big festival called OOKABUKI(大歌舞伎)
You must be thinking, what is this Kabuki, right?
I don't know either! lol So, I decided to take a little research about Kabuki(歌舞伎)!
It’s a Japanese Theatre, and mean is KA= sing, BU= dance, KI= represent.
It has 400 years of history in Japan and registered by UNESCO as the treasure of Japanese culture. KABUKI actors are all men and women are forbidden to submit.
In the past the KABUKI was made just for women, but had some problems unfortunately with prostitution,
then the Government banned women and leaving only men to act.
That gave origin to the beautiful Onnagata(女形). One of the most anticipated of the characters Theatre!
Besides the charm of Onnagata, have colorful clothes and white makeup with their use a extravagant lines of colors, that each has meanings
Blue=Villain, Red =Rage, Gray =Melancholy and Green =Diabolical Spirits. Actor’s movements so strong passing the message of the character fellings
to your audience!
I guess so interesting and I can’t wait to watch KABUKI!
If you will come to Japan or you are in Japan, I think you should go see once in your life!
P.S.:Sorry for my bad English lol
